It was with great sadness that BADA learned of the recent passing of Bob Dixon OBE last week. Bob was a member of BADA, an honorary position bestowed on him following his work with the European Airshow Council, where he continually represented the interests of the UK Air Display community on a broader scale. He was a great supporter of all things airshows, working with several events, teams, companies and sponsors to help overcome various challenges, issues and support the airshow community. He became a mentor to many, with a unique gentlemanly charm, sense of humour, but also the quiet authority of the Senior RAF Officer he once was.
Although Bob had retired from airshow work in 2014, he continued to follow what was going on in the airshow world, maintaining contact with many of those both current and retired. It is true to say that Bob classed them not as colleagues, but as friends, friends which spanned as many years as countries. His contribution to our community is very much appreciated and out thoughts and condolences are with his wife Sue, his family and of course his friends in the UK and abroad.
