That a lot of hard work goes into organising the highly-successful an d ever-popular air show at Welshpool each year is without dispute. This, though, has now been recognised nationally
as Welshpool Air Show won the Silver Medal in the Best Small Event class at the National Tourism Awards for Wales 2015.

The award was presented to Welshpool Town Clerk Robert Robin son FRICS AILCM and airport owner Linda Jones at a glittering, black-tie awards ceremony held on Wednesday 25th March at The Vale Resort in Hensol and organised by Visit Wales, in commercial partnership with communications and event management company, Quadrant Media & Communications Ltd.

The awards showcase the very best in Welsh tourism from the best places to stay and eat, to Wales’ best event. It also celebrates the best visitor welcome, rising stars in the industry and acknowledges tourism businesses that are supporting and developing their staff, as well as crowning the best in business tourism.

The 2014 airshow was an overwhelming success both on the ground and in the air. This year we are looking to book a bumper show of eclectic flying displays that will top even that. Add to all this that we have the amazing Festival of Transport with hundreds of veteran vehicles displayed and a myriad stalls on the field itself. As our posters say – “probably the best little air display in the country”.
